In the first chapter of Winter, we see the beautiful palace of Artemisia for the cold and horrific place it really is. Winter may be a girl of ice and glass, but the Queen is a woman filled with rage, and impatient with court proceedings.

A Lunar janitor begs for the life of his shell child, Aimery Park loses his head during court, and Jacin Clay is brought back to Luna, for his own trial.
