As Cinder struggles to accept the loss of Thorne and Scarlet, her new crew member takes control of the situation. Lunar Guard Jacin, now aboard the Rampion, helps Cinder bandage Wolf's wounds, as they make their descent to Africa.

Meanwhile, Thorne and Cress are plummeting to Earth in her satellite. As Cress tries desperately to save their fall, Thorne's own future has an unexplained blackness to it.
